Dayton Residents Express Satisfaction in Annual Survey, Highlighting Areas for Improvement

The City of Dayton’s 2025 annual survey indicates a notable rise in resident satisfaction, with nearly 64% expressing contentment with city life, up from approximately 50% in 2017. This survey, conducted by the ETC Institute, serves as a tool for the city to assess performance and guide future initiatives.

Despite the positive trend, the survey identifies areas needing attention. Only 23% of residents are satisfied with the condition of streets, sidewalks, and pavement. Additionally, affordable housing remains a concern, with 31% satisfaction contrasted by a 34% dissatisfaction rate. Residents also highlighted crime, housing conditions such as abandoned homes, drug use, and gun violence as pressing issues.

Perceptions of the Dayton Police Department vary among demographics. While 45% of residents believe officers are responsive to neighborhood needs, satisfaction is notably lower among Black residents, individuals aged 18 to 34, and those living in West Dayton.

These insights provide valuable direction for city officials as they strive to enhance the quality of life for all Dayton residents.
